Micromovements

An old story from India tells of a man who had to make a ten mile journey at night with only a lamp to show the way. He was frozen by the thought of how he would find his way. A wise man came past and pointed out to him that the lamp would always light the few meters ahead of him. SARK calls them Micromovements. So all he had to do was take the next few steps and there was no need to worry about the whole trip. - Next Small Step

“Don’t compare yourself to other people. It won’t help. You’ll only find what you expect to find. If you think you’re weak, everyone else will seem stronger. If you think you’re strong, everyone else will seem weaker. There’s no point in doing this. Simply look at where you are now, and aim to get better as you go forward.” — Steve Pavlina - Self-Discipline

Homemade Happiness

“We have the power to choose to be happy no matter what our circumstances dictate. What we must begin to understand is that the only true reality is the reality that’s reflected from inside our own hearts and minds. We have been conditioned to believe that what we see on the outside must determine how we experience our day. In learning to change the direction of our sight from outward to inward, we give ourselves the power to be content and happy in our hearts and minds, each and every day. Make a conscious choice not to spend another day blaming an outside person, place or thing for the condition of your heart and mind, which belongs only to you. Begin each day with the choice to be happy, no matter what you may face throughout your day. Start each day with this determination in your heart and make up your mind to just do it. Eat of this word and Live forevermore with Happiness that is Homemade!” - Catherine Mary Myers

“Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking, and don’t settle. As with all matters of the heart, you’ll know when you find it.” —Steve Jobs (via editorlisa)

“I think this is why so much of the work that comes from large companies is so mediocre. It gets specified by someone and executed by someone else, with feedback from someone else and final say from someone else. It’s just a big mediocre mess. To make something really beautiful, you have to treat it like a lover. It has to be personal.” —Jonathan Harris (via christmasgorilla)

“… asking “Will it matter in five years?” is a fantastic way to put things into perspective. However disastrous your day’s been, it’s rare that anything happens which won’t be forgotten long before the five years are up.” —Will All of This Matter In Five Years? | Dumb Little Man
